Harry Cohen grew up in Rockville, Maryland, a suburb of Washington, DC. After graduating from college at Western Maryland College, he was accepted to the prestigious Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. Dr. Cohen graduated from Johns Hopkins in 1993, and then completed his Ophthalmology Residency at the University of Iowa. The Iowa Ophthalmology program is consistently ranked in the top 5 in the country.
Prior to arriving in Bloomington, Dr. Cohen had very successful practices in Wisconsin (Marshfield Clinic, one of the 5 largest medical clinics in the US) and in Vermont (University of Vermont medical system). Dr. Cohen came to Ophthalmology Associates in 2005 upon the retirement of Dean Cofield, MD who founded the practice in 1969.
Dr. Cohen specializes in taking care of a variety of eye diseases including cataracts and glaucoma. He has a special interest and extensive experience with multifocal and astigmatism-correcting lens implants. Dr. Cohen was the first to bring endoscopic glaucoma surgery to Bloomington. Dr. Cohen is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology.
Dr. Cohen lives in Bloomington with his wife, Piper, and their three children. He enjoys coaching his childrenās football and basketball teams. Dr. Cohen is a deacon and small group leader at South Union Christian Church.
